About The Event

Come join the DPS and DGS for a fossil hunt at Moss Creek Saturday, April 12, 2025! Moss Creek is a tributary of the North Sulphur River, a well-known fossil collecting area in North Texas. Campanian aged shark teeth are abundant at this private site, only accessible through the field trip. Participants will be able to find numerous species (over 20!) by collecting and screening sediment, or by picking teeth on the surface. DGS is partnering with the Dallas Paleontological Society for this trip, so you will have the expertise of paleontologists right beside you! This trip is on private land and participants will be required to sign a Hold Harmless Agreement. Field trip location and times will be furnished to participants who RSVP. Drive time from Dallas is roughly  1-1 ½ hours. Questions? Please contact Sean Kincade at skincade@huntoil.com or 214-354-2028.
