SIPES Dallas Field Trip


A Friday night reception at Baylor University with beverages and
hors d'oeuvres and Saturday night dinner at the new Baylor Stadium.
Transportation to/from hotel not included.
One day (Saturday) in the field with Friday and Saturday night at the Downtown
Courtyard by Marriott (Book your group rate for SIPES ) in downtown Waco,
Texas. Participants will pay for their own lodging by clicking on the link above

Geology will include:
Dallas SIPES member R. David Shiels will be our tour guide. We will be
focusing on the Comanchean Series which includes the Trinity, Fredericksburg
and Washita Groups. We will look at road cuts, railroad cuts and river cuts of
the Glen Rose, Edwards (Goodland) and Walnut Marl. We will have USACE
permission to collect sharks teeth at a cut of Del Rio Clay at the Lake Waco dam.
Our lunch stop will be at Tonkawa Park in Crawford where the Middle Bosque
River cascades over the Edwards Limestone.
Our last stop will be at the Waco Mammoth National Monument where we will
have a private tour and lecture on how the Pachyderms came to be buried.
