The board of directors for the Dallas Geological Society for the term 2009-2010 met at Desperado’s.

ATTENDANCE

Patty Abney (First Vice President) = PA

Mark Bengtson (Intl. Speaker Committee) = MB

Deanna Combs (Replacement Secretary - Vince Smith Replacement)= DC

CALL TO ORDER: SH motion to call meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Seconded by PL.
CONSIDERATION OF LAST MEETING’S MINUTES:SH moves to approve last month’s minutes. Seconded by TL.
CONSIDERATION OF MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS:MM not in attendance. Will be reviewed at next meeting.
TREASURER’S REPORT – ACCT STATUS UPDATE: MW not in attendance. Will be reviewed at next meeting. MW to review golf tourney accounting.
UPDATE ON LUNCHTIME SPEAKERS: Discussed by PA
Next speaker to discuss H-C halos.
PA is speaking to someone at BEG for next talk
May get in touch with Lynn Hughes for an ethics talk.
UPDATE ON SWS:
PA has all but 1 slot filled with speakers. All is on schedule.
UPDATE ON INTERNATIONAL SPEAKERS:Discussed by MB
Last speaker was very well received
Dr. Alexander Brown (UT-D) will speak on Crustal Tectonics for next talk
Dan Sarvy (May – Final mtg) will speak on International Shales
SH will get with MW on what break-even head count is.
UPDATE ON WEBSITE RELATED ISSUES: Discussed by SH
PROBLEMS
Booking spousal events for SWS. No option for this on website, as of yet.
