MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA AND DUES SCHEDULE

ACTIVE MEMBERS Any person of integrity holding both a degree in earth science, and involved in earth sciences, who is interested in furthering the purposes of the DGS, is eligible to become an Active Member, and is thereby eligible to vote and hold office. Exceptions to the qualifications may be made by an unanimous vote of the BOD, or for Active Members of The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). The BOD, at its discretion, may appoint Active Members to one or more DGS committees. Dues $25/ year.

HONORARY LIFE MEMBERS Any Active Member who has brought distinction to the profession through public-spirited activity or scientific achievements may be approved by a majority vote of the BOD to Honorary Life Membership. Potential Life Members are nominated by the Awards Committee and following election shall thereafter be exempt from payment of dues and shall be eligible to vote and hold office.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS Any person failing to qualify for the status of Active Member, but who is otherwise interested in the activities and purposes of the DGS, may become an Associate Member, but shall not be eligible to vote or hold office. Dues $25/ year.

STUDENT MEMBER Any person who is a student in good standing, studying for a degree in earth science, is eligible to become a Student Member, but shall not be eligible to vote or hold office. Dues $5/ year.

Overview of the Society

Founded in 1919, The Dallas Geological Society a constituent member of the Southwest Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and, as a non-profit entity, strives to advance the professional interests of all geoscientists in the Dallas area, regardless of the geoscientific discipline they practice or the industry in which they serve. The DGS currently serves over 500 members. DGS cooperates with other geological organizations such as The Geological Society of America (GSA), The Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, The American Geophysical Union, and The Society of Exploration Geophysicists to provide information and services to our members.

The Dallas Geological Society holds monthly luncheon meetings on the second Tuesday of the month (September through June) at Ellison Miles Geotechnical Institute at Brookhaven College. Luncheon talks vary on a wide range of topics from the world of petroleum geology, geophysics, or engineering. Luncheon cost is $25 for members with reservations and $30 for non-members and walk-ups.

The DGS International Committee is very active and holds monthly meetings on the third Wednesday evening of the month, at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas. These meetings feature speakers on topical international issues (mainly petroleum exploration).

I think it is a self totaling Excel sheet that only the number of tickets you wish to buy should be entered to the left of the $$ amount. If you do not want any tickets for a certian activity ENTER 0 to allow the form to total correctly. If your total still shows #VALUE you need to enter a number of tickets you wish to purchace, weather 0 or 100.
